Richard Sanderson

“I started playing guitar when I was eighteen. It was something I’d wanted to do since I can’t remember when, and the strings in the tennis racket had finally given way. I bought my first guitar from student savings – a bright red Fender something – and taught myself enough chords to make a noise that resembled a Beatles number.

After 6 months, I joined a college band, and after moving to London, played in a couple of pub bands. Some great gigs, and a lot of fun. After a few years, work started to get more serious, and the requirement to feed and house the offspring meant that the guitars had to go.

Last summer (2002), I decided that I wanted to get back into playing guitar again, but decided I wanted to “do it properly” this time. I started lessons in Oct 2002, and I am having great fun all over again. It is a little difficult having to unteach the bad habits picked up more than 10 or so years ago, but very rewarding when the things that have puzzled you for years are all explained.

Sarah is a great teacher, not simply because she can play fantastically well, but because she is able to communicate what you need to do in a simple, straight forward manner, and always with a strong sense of humour. My hesitation of being taught Rock n Roll by a girl has been thoroughly buried!

I can recommend Sarah as a guitar tutor to everyone – either beginner or old dog like me.
